The two programs award over $2.5 billion in non-dilutive funding annually to qualified small businesses. The process is complex but the impact of receiving $millions in non-dilutive funding is worth the effort! In this workshop, learn about SBIR/STTR funding from DOE SBIR/STTR expert, Jerry Hollister, Principal Consultant with BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting (BBCetc). Jerry will provide detailed instruction on the DOE programs, including: • Up-to-date information about the DOE SBIR/STTR program • Selecting a topic and subtopic for your proposal • Outlines and considerations for each part of your proposal • Writing your proposal to meet reviewer expectations • DOE commercialization review criteria and how to approach your plan • Common problems and pitfalls and how to avoid them Feedback from 26 years of attendees has overwhelming endorsed this session as a critical component in successful proposal development. About the Presenter: Jerry Hollister, Principal Consultant (BBCetc) Jerry is a BBCetc Principal Consultant, having joined the company in 2017 with 30 years of leadership experience in government, higher education, non-profit and for-profit enterprises. After earning an engineering degree from the University of Michigan, he served as commissioned Naval Officer in the Civil Engineer Corps and a warranted Contracting Officer for the Dept. of Defense. From 2008-17, Jerry was COO of Niowave, a successful Michigan start-up company that has received $20 million in SBIR awards. Niowave was named the 2010 SBIR/STTR Small Business of the Year by the Dept. of Energy and, in 2016, was honored with the S.B.A.’s Tibbetts Award. Jerry served in a number of non-profit and educational roles following his honorable discharge from the Navy.
